Instructions To Use Lumber Weight Calculator:
1. Select the type of wood whose weight you want to calculate.
2. Enter the dimensions of the lumber piece i.e. Length, Width, and Thickness (You can choose the units of your own choice)
3. Enter the number of lumber pieces.
4. Click on the ” Calculate Weight” button and you will get the lumber weight in lbs and kg.
Every type of wood has different density. Same size of wooden pieces from different species of wood can carry different weight.
Apart from the species, the moisture content and age of wood impacts the weight of lumber to a great extent.
The first step to calculate the weight of a lumber piece is to know the density of that wood.
We have listed down the densities of various species of wood in the following table.

Note: We do not Guarantee that the densities in above table are 100% accurate. We have listed these densities from the Data Available on internet. We consider the average Density of wood while calculating weight in our Timber Weight Calculator.
After Knowing the density of wood from the above table now the time is to find the volume of Lumber piece.
As we know:
Weight : Density X Volume
Volume : Length X Width X Height
As an example we are going to calculate the weight of Yew (Softwood).
Assume we have a piece of Yew Wood having size of 1metre x 1metre x 1metre
Volume of wood : 1 x 1 x 1 = 1 cubic meter
Weight of wood : 1 cubic meter X 0.670 x 100 (100 is the multiplying factor because Density is in 10^3 kg/m^3)
= 670 Kg.
Calculating weight of lumber can be a mind exhausting task as all the measurements and Density needs to be of same size.
Our online Lumber Weight Calculators has options to enter your measurements in any unit that you prefer. You only need to enter the measurement of wooden piece and select the type of wood.
Lumber weight calculator will do all the measurements for you and give the results in Kg/lbs.
